Ballet DANCE Classes in Sheffield
We offer ballet dance classes in Sheffield to adults and children from ages 5 upwards with classes ranging from beginner level, all the way up to advanced.
Ballet is a type of performance dance that originated during the Italian Renaissance in the fifteenth century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia. It has since become a widespread and highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. Ballet has been influential globally and has defined the foundational techniques which are used in many other dance genres and cultures.
Children’s Ballet Classes
Ballet classes for children start from ages 5 upwards.
Ballet Classes for Adults
We understand that everyday lives can be busy and committing to a regular dance class every week may be difficult for some. For this reason our adult dance classes follow a drop-in, pay-as-you-go format – you can come to class as and when it suits you. Classes can be booked and paid for in advance on our website.
Ballet Dance Class Structure
The class will always start with a short cardio warm up to get the body moving and the joints warmed up.
You will then move on to barre work, where you’ll progress through the key classical exercises from plies all the way to grand battements. Then you’ll move away from the barre and into the centre, practicing key elements of ballet including pirouettes (turning) and allegro (jumping).
Afterwards, you’ll finish with a stretch to relax the muscles back out after a sweaty class!
