Graded IDTA classes

Our graded classes follow the syllabus of the IDTA (opens in a new tab) in ballet, pointe, modern jazz, tap and acrobatics for dance. Classes run on Saturdays and are arranged by grade, from Primary (age 6+) through the grades to Intermediate and Senior.

  • Try it first. The first 3 weeks are pay-as-you-go, so your child can try the class before you commit.

  • Half-termly fees. After the trial, classes are invoiced each half term in line with Sheffield school terms: £6.50 for a 60-minute class, £5.25 for 45 minutes and £3.75 for 30 minutes.

  • Exams are optional. We only enter students for IDTA exams when they’re ready, so they go in confident and well prepared. We encourage them: exams mark your child’s progress, and passing one brings a real sense of achievement and a confidence boost that carries well beyond the studio.

  • Competition classes are for students who take at least one technique class with us and want to enter dance competitions in the region.

To join, contact us. We’ll suggest the right class and grade for your child and email you the uniform details.

Little ones (Ages 3–5)

Creative Dance & Play is our first class for 3 to 5-year-olds. Through music, movement and imagination, children build coordination and confidence, and have a lot of fun along the way. They’ll also learn some first acro skills, like safe tumbles and forward rolls. When they’re ready, they can take Rosettes, the IDTA exam for this age group. It runs on Saturdays, 09:00–09:45, in line with Sheffield school terms.

Cost: £5.25 per 45-minute class, invoiced each half term. To join: contact us.

Questions parents often ask

Can my child try a class first?

Yes. Drop-ins are pay-as-you-go anyway, and graded classes start with 3 weeks pay-as-you-go before you commit to a term.

Do they have to take exams?

No, IDTA exams are optional. We’ll only suggest them when your child is ready.

What should they wear?

For drop-ins, comfortable clothes they can move in. Graded classes have a uniform, and we’ll email you the details when you contact us to book a place.

Are your teachers DBS-checked?

Yes. All our teachers are qualified and insured, and every teacher who works with children is DBS-checked. Meet the team

Can I stay and watch?

For our little ones (3–5), you’re welcome to stay in the room until your child settles in, if they need you. For older children, we ask parents not to stay, as we find it can unsettle the class, but you’re welcome to watch through the door window for a couple of minutes to check they’re happy. During class, you can relax in our waiting area or head off and come back at pick-up time.
