Anna Olejnicki, Artistic Director
Anna began her dance career training at a local dance school in Doncaster, and began her professional career working as a commercial dancer / choreographer for fashion shows, and a dance tutor across the UK before founding Hype Dance Company, a dance education company in Sheffield in 2004.
She has since choreographed dance theatre, has performed as a solo artist on stage and is involved in many aspects of dance education. Anna has worked with many dance companies delivering educational work across many genres which include Danceworks UK, Robert Hylton Urban Classicism (UK), Decadance Theater (USA), Renegade Dance Theatre (Germany) and continues to work with the The Royal Ballet School Dance Partnership & Access (UK).
Anna is committed to dance training and established Hype-D Apprentice Scheme for emerging dance artists, hosted Skills & Drills North in partnership with Robert Hylton, and HEX a Hiphop exchange for young performers involving international dance artists from America, and ARC pre-vocational dance training in Yorkshire.
Anna has personally been awarded Arts Council funding for various projects, a Lisa Ullman Dance Travel Scholarship, and was short listed for the O2 / Grazia Magazine National Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009.

Simone Amps, Commercial & Jazz
Simone trained at the prestigious London Studio Centre on a three year Dance Performers Diploma course. She went on to have a career as a commercial performer and choreographer. Her credits include:
Sky, L’Oreal, Charles Worthington, The BBC, Coca Cola, English Risce Productions, Film Four, Doctor Who, The Sports Penine Partnership, Leeds Met University, Asda, The Clothes Show, The British Heart Foundation, Damage, Cathy Woo, The Black Roses, Aveda, BBC Blast, The Big Breakfast, Shena Winchester (the weekend song).
Simone then went on to study with the British Ballet Organization to gain her teaching qualification and teaches all variations of Jazz (commercial, lyrical, technical, audition preparation) and runs the performance group Sirens here at Hype as well as teaching on the ARC programme. She is also a freelance teacher and choreographer throughout the UK.
Simone is a member of Equity and holds Approved Teacher Status by the Council of Dance Education and Training where she meets the needs and adheres to their requirements of professional practice for approved teachers. Simone is also a qualified Pilates Instructor and Nutritional therapist and runs her own Wellbeing practice Lovehappyou.

Lauren Aizlewood-Clow, Contemporary
Lauren began her professional dance career at the age of 3 in Sheffield.
After completing her BTec Diploma in Performing Arts she then moved on to train at the prestigious LABAN in London where she gained a BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre.
Upon graduating Lauren has taught, choreographed and performed in various productions across the UK and the world - including a TV commercial for Japanese fashion label Tusmori Chisato in conjunction with Citibank which was aired throughout the far East.
Lauren specialises in teaching Contemporary and Ballet technique as well as creative / choreographic workshops. She currently works as a freelance dance artist, teaching across the country. Her works ranges from technique classes to creative choreography drawing on her extensive experience.

Sarah Hobson, Hip Hop
Sarah Grace Hobson is a professional dancer, choreographer and tutor. Originating as a Hip Hop artist, Sarah has spent a great deal of time honing her craft; training in styles such as contemporary, jazz, commercial and African. She holds a BA (Hons) degree in dance and still regularly trains to stay knowledgeable within her field.
Working as a freelance artist Sarah spends a great deal of her time choreographing for different companies and events across the UK, as well as performing regularly within the theatre and commercial industry. She has created award winning choreography and has worked with many people in the industry including Jonzi D, Boy Blue Ents, DecaDance, Rationale Productions, Superstar mascots, and Hype Dance itself.
Sarah’s biggest passion comes from being able to share her love of dance through the joys of teaching - and she is eager to encourage children and adults to become dancers at any age!

Abi Roystone, ModJazz, Tap, Comps & Acro
Abi started dancing at the age of 3 at Emma Vee Dance Studios until the age of 18. Since then she trained as a student at Phil Winston's Theatreworks in Blackpool, where she gained her first 2 IDTA teaching qualifications along with qualifications upto Advanced 1 in Modern Jazz, Ballet and Tap.
She has been a finialist in the Miss Dance of Great Britain and has worked as a professional dancer at several events and brings her experience and knowledge to all the classes she takes.

Alejandra Caro, Ballet & Pointework
Alejandra is performer, choreographer and teacher. She has a BA with Major in Dance and a Qualified Specialized Teacher Status in Dance from the Universidad de Chile (2009). She is a contemporary dancer and has specialized in teaching methodologies for Academic Technique.
She has participated in workshops with Dominique Mercy (Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch), Barbara Mahler (Klein technique), Arco Renz (Vertical vs Horizontal), Francisca Morand (Bartenieff fundamentals), Milena Gilabert (Body-Mind Centering) and David Zambrano (Flying Low) among others. She has also performed with several choreographers and professional companies in Chile. Her artistic focus is contemporary dance and their connections with electroacoustic music, video and visual arts through intermedia projects.
Alejandra is an experienced teacher and has held teaching positions at both the University of Chile and the University of Playa Ancha (in Chile) as well as in several dance academies. She has worked with adults, young people and children, covering contemporary, modern and academic techniques.
BA (Hons) Professional Dance and Musical Theatre, Associate IDTA
Jemma Rosenthal, Hip Hop
Jemma started dancing and performing at a young age, she trained in Freestyle, Ballet, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop among other styles of dance, as well as singing and acting, performing at local theatres and events. After studying a BTEC in Performing Arts Acting at Norton College, she went on to receive a Scholarship to train at the Urdang Academy in London, completing a BA (Hons) in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre.
She has gone on to work professionally both as a dancer and actress in London and joined Hype Dance Company to work on the boxing / dance R&D project, Savage Beauty. She continues her training and performs regularly with various Hip Hop groups in Sheffield, including Matrix at Hype.
She now works at a variety of schools teaching Musical Theatre and Dance. And has completed her Associates in Freestyle BATD and Pre Associate Ballet with IDTA. Her varied skill set enables her to draw inspiration from a number of different areas, using her passion for dance and creativity to work on student expression, and bringing the best in every student.
BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance Performance
Lucy Haighton, Contemporary
Lucy Haighton is a freelance dance artist and practitioner based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. She began her training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, continuing her training at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance in Dundee, where she graduated from in 2012.
Lucy has worked collaboratively on numerous projects with a variety of artists including Dora Frankel Dance Company, Gary Clarke, Lisa May Thomas, Gerry Turvey, Balbir Singh Dance Company and South Asian Arts Company Manasamitra. Performance experience includes site-specific work such as garden allotments, street corners, pubs, scratch nights, platforms and local festivals together with larger scale events such as touring theatre work and national festivals.
Lucy choreographs her own work and is currently researching for a solo exploring language, its barriers and communication. As well as performance and project work, she also leads classes and workshops for a variety of ages, abilities and levels. Teaching work recently took her to Northern Rajasthan, India where she delivered creative education workshops as part of a team to children aged 3-17 for 5 weeks.
Lucy has a keen interest working in Yorkshire and has been supported by Yorkshire Dance and the South Yorkshire Dance Hub and is also a member of the Dance Network Sheffield collective
Reo Kennedy, Hip Hop
Reo Kennedy started dancing at the relatively late age of 16 but immediately discovered a passion and talent for dance. She studied dance at Sheffield Springs Academy Sixth Form for two years and achieved two Distinction * and a Distinction in her BTEC National Diploma.
She came to Hype Dance in 2012 where she took street and contemporary dance classes which led her into Hype’s Hip Hop performance group, MatriX.
She was also lucky enough to take part in ARC 2013/14, a pre-vocational dance course during which time she studied Hip Hop in depth. She graduated last year and went on to be an assistant on the course.
In 2014 she passed her BATD Freestyle Associates Teaching Exam with Highly Commended and continues to teach classes, do outreach work, private classes and many other projects with Hype.
