Our junior drop-in classes are open level and suitable for all abilities, unless otherwise stated. If you wish to join one of our IDTA syllabus led classes for under 18’s then please get in touch.

The drop-in classes are social classes where you will start with a warm up, then may learn some technique, some choreography, or whatever else the tutor feels like teaching – the class will end with a cool down / stretch. These drop-in style classes don’t follow a set syllabus.
The under 18’s IDTA syllabus classes follow the IDTA syllabus specific to the grade the class are learning.
Each drop-in class is a self contained class, meaning you can join in at any time. Please make sure to book and pay in advance though – if the class is full and you haven’t booked, you may be unable to take part in the class. You can book all of our classes, courses, workshops, dance studios, events etc by clicking the “Book now!” button in the menu at the top of the page.
The beginner courses run on a 5 week cycle and we suggest joining these at the beginning of a cycle, but you are welcome to join them at any time if that fits with your schedule.
Please get in touch with us if you would like your child to join any our IDTA syllabus classes. This is so that we can make sure we suggest the most appropriate class(es) and can discuss any specific details with you.
Our drop-in classes are one off, self contained classes, so you can book just one class and give it a try.
Our beginner courses run over 5 weeks and you can book onto the block of classes. Book the full course in advance and receive a discount of £1.00 per class (£5.00 in total). If you have missed the start of the course, or are unable to attend all of the sessions, you can book the sessions you can attend individually.
Our syllabus based IDTA classes are payable termly, although we do offer new starters 3 weeks pay as you go so that you can make sure the class is suitable, before committing to a full term.
We don’t have a dress code for our adult classes so you can wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
For ballet classes, most people wear leggings or shorts and a vest top or tee, and for your feet, ballet shoes or barefoot will be fine.
For commercial / street / hiphop, most people wear leggings / joggers or shorts and a vest top or tee, and for your feet, CLEAN trainers will be fine.
For contemporary dance, most people wear leggings / joggers or shorts and a vest top or tee. For your feet, barefoot will be fine.
For modern jazz, most people wear leggings / joggers or shorts and a vest top or tee, and for your feet, jazz shoes or barefoot will be fine.
For tap dance, most people wear leggings / joggers or shorts and a vest top or tee. If you don’t have tap shoes, please wear hard soled shoes that you can dance in, NOT trainers!
There is a set uniform for the IDTA syllabus led classes that children must wear when taking exams and is dependant on what grade they are entered into. We will discuss this with you before your child starts classes with us.
We suggest bringing a water bottle along to class – you can refill it here too.
When you arrive press the buzzer (to the left of the black doors) and let us know what you are here for. Push the door when you hear the buzzing sound, then head inside and up to the waiting area, which is on the left at the top on the stairs.
If you need to change clothes, please use the designated changing space (just through the waiting area). Please bring CLEAN footwear for the studio, especially during autumn / winter when it is often muddy outside.
Once you are ready, take a seat in the waiting area until your dance tutor / member of staff comes to get you for your class / studio hire. Please take your belongings with you into the studio, where there are hooks to hang bags and coats on.
Participant’s ages cover a wide range, from 17 to people in their 50’s & 60’s, and everyone else in between!

Abigail Emma Davies2025-08-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Joining Hype has been one of the best decisions I've made. The training and support I’ve received have been exceptional across every style — ballet, jazz, contemporary, and choreo. Each class is taught with such care, expertise, and positivity that they’ve quickly become the highlight of my week. The teachers are incredibly encouraging, and the environment they’ve created truly helps dancers thrive. My private lessons with Paulina have been especially transformative, they’ve played a huge role in my growth and progress as a dancer. So grateful to be part of this community! ♥️🩰 Bethany Hudson2025-08-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I absolutely love the adult dance classes at Hype. Paulina and Lauren are exceptional choreographers and the loveliest people! They make their classes so fun and engaging, and challenge you to improve without any pressure. So glad I found Hype Dance! ❤️ Madeleine Cope2025-08-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have used hype dance in a number of ways; classes, tuition and studio hire and it is great. The teachers are friendly and welcoming in classes and the choreography is always engaging. I have recently attended the choreo classes with Paulina. She has incredible musicality and she teaches choreo in a way that lets a mixture of abilities explore their own, to a really great selection of music. The classes are drop in style, but in all the ones I have attended I see the same faces again and again, which speaks for itself in terms of the community atmosphere! Andrew Vernon2025-07-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are a mature group of mixed abilities looking to brush up on our disco dancing skills. Paulina embraced the challenge and guided us through a series of classes with prowess and enthusiasm. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend the Hype Dance Company to others. Catherine Thristan2025-05-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Adult dance classes at Hype Dance are fantastic. The teachers are all really skilled and it is an inclusive environment. I have done dance as a hobby for years and this is the most inclusive, friendly school I’ve ever been too. Frank Mansfield2025-04-08Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great dance studio - my kids attend different classes there and absolutely love it. Amazing teachers, fantastic attitude and vibe. Proves you don't need to be pretentious to achieve top quality! Maddy Cope2025-04-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I love the contemporary classes with Lauren. The atmosphere is supportive and she really encourages you to let go with the movements. This subltely helps you improve your musicality and execution, but mainly allows the dance to be a great release, confidence building and fun! Aleks P-B2024-11-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our daughter had an ABBA-themed birthday party at Hype. It was fantastic! Our dance instructor Paulina was very friendly and enthusiastic. She ensured everyone felt welcome and engaged. The ABBA-themed dance activities were inclusive and fun, with a great playlist of ABBA hits that kept all the kids dancing. As a bonus the kids were invited to watch a "tapathon" which was organised for children in need. My daughter gives Hype big 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Tim Herrick2024-08-30Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My wife and I had a private dance lesson at Hype, with Paulina. It was a wonderful experience! We were made to feel comfortable, then gently stretched in what we felt ok doing. Paulina was pleasant and chatty throughout, and really helped us learn how we can do easy social dancing. Thanks to all for making this such a good evening!
