- Dates: Sunday 15th March 2026
- Time: 10:00 – 12:00

Hype Dance Company will host a morning of dance specifically targeted towards neurodiverse people. The morning will start with a Q&A with a member of Neurodiversity Sheffield and some of Hype’s neurodiverse students. This will be followed by 2 dance sessions, one for children and young people (parents are more than welcome to join / sit in!) and a second for adults.
Both sessions will offer a safe and welcoming environment built on the idea that there is no right or wrong, only your unique rhythm and style. We will also have a sensory room if you need a little time and space and best of all – it’s all FREE!
We hope you come along and discover how you can use dance and movement to explore and regulate your emotions, as well as having loads of fun!
Sunday
- 10:00 – 10:30, Introduction and Q&A with a member of Neurodiversity Sheffield
- 10:30 – 11:30, Dance session for children and young people (6-15)
- 10:30 – 11:20, Dance session for adults (16+)
Children & Young People
The class for children and young people is for ages 6-15 with parents / guardians very welcome to join in. This isn’t your typical dance class. It’s a safe, welcoming environment built on the idea that there is no right or wrong, only your unique rhythm and style.
Using emotions, personal experiences, and the magic of sound to guide our creative space. A 10-minute break will be included, but don’t worry if you need a little space, the sensory room will be available all morning.
Adults
The creative movement session for adults is for ages 16+. This class is designed for adults who want to explore the joy of movement in a low-pressure, sensory-friendly environment.
Forget complex choreography or “getting the steps right.” This session is about how your body feels, not just how it looks. We focus on expression, using movement as a tool for communication, regulation, and pure creative play.
In this 90min session you can expect:
Guided Exploration: We use simple prompts—like moving to a specific rhythm, imagining a texture, or exploring “heavy” vs. “light” movements—to help you find your own unique flow.
- Sensory Awareness: The environment is tailored to be comfortable. We use adjustable lighting, moderate volume levels, and encourage “stimming” or repetitive movements as a valid form of expression.
- ZERO JUDGMENT: If you need to take a break, move in your own pase, or simply observe for a while, you are always welcome to do so.
- Connection & Community: While we often move individually, the class fosters a shared sense of belonging and community.
