An engaging collaboration of contemporary dance, music and visual art inspired by Surrealism and the effects of cancer on the body. Produced by Hype Dance Company and influenced by stories from cancer patients the show explores how this affects body manipulation and distortion. Juxtaposed are moments of sheer fun and absurdity, fully involving the audience creating an immersive theatrical experience to take you on a surreal, emotional journey.
Join us for this cabaret evening which is most definitely one of a kind and will be supporting Barnsley Hospice. This production is funded in part by The Arts Council, England though their Grant for the Arts awards.
Experienced professional performer Joshua Hubbard (some of you may remember his Vogueing workshops here at Hype) will be in the lead role with Will Lonsdale (current Hype Student) as his apprentice. Supporting them will be a cast of Hype Dance students - Andrew Murray, Helen Bowler, Lewis O'Dell, Yasemin Gunay, Melody Yee Chu, Ana Guevara & Ingrid Gooch.
Original and creative, surprising and imaginative with an obvious commitment to research - certainly not your run of the mill fancy dance!
It would be great if you could come along and support the show, in turn supporting Barnsley Hospice. Tickets can be bought from The Civic, Barnsley website and box office on +44 1226 327 000.
More information can be found in the Facebook Event Page where we will update details as necessary.
Rehearsals are already underway with the community cast of Hype Academy dancers, ahead of the main rehearsals which begin on 20th August and we've been coming up with some weird and wonderful ideas in the studio so far!
